OKLAHOMA CITY -- The second annual Walk for Epilepsy will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 at Bluff Creek Park near Lake Hefner.

The event, sponsored by the Epilepsy Association of Oklahoma, is designed to bring more awareness about epilepsy to the general public, said association President Jenniafer Walters.

Walkers should gather at the park, located at Hefner Road and N. Meridian Avenue in Oklahoma City. Walkers are encouraged to sign in at 10 a.m. Registration can be completed online at www.okepilepsy.org or www.signmeup.com/102258.

Proceeds from the walk will be used to benefit epilepsy patients through medication assistance, free prescription cards and tuition to Camp Cavett, which is designed for youngsters with a variety of illnesses, including epilepsy.

One in 26 people in the United States have epilepsy and more than 45,000 people – half of them children - have been diagnosed with the disorder in Oklahoma. Epilepsy affects 3 million people in the U.S. and more than 65 million worldwide.
