OKLAHOMA CITY --  Believe it or not, country music and TV star Billy Ray Cyrus is on to a new project -the investigation of UFO's.

Notes music blog Stop The Presses: "But his next move on the small screen is a bit more unusual: Cyrus has struck a deal with Syfy and Peacock Productions to host a new weekly television show about paranormal activity and conspiracy theories with his son, Trace -- kind of a reality "X-Files" with a country twist."

The article continues: "While the show's name seems like it could double as a Miley Cyrus song title -- "UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obvious" -- Syfy promises the elder Cyrus has a serious and longstanding interest in the unknown. "The existence of paranormal phenomena is something I've always wanted to explore further," Cyrus said in a press release about the show. "I hope this series can shine a light on some of the activities we have questioned, and the mysteries that have long inspired us."

Indeed. It is worth mentioning that the subject of UFOs has been coming up quite a bit lately. UFOs interfering with Chinese airports and such.

This really comes as no surprise. Billy Ray Cyrus has always been a bit of a strange guy. In recent months I have researched more about him and his bizarrely "normal" entertainment family. The hard-hitting blog Pseudo-Occult Media has done a lot of research into the Cyrus clan and believes them all to be under some sort of mind control, with Miley having this dual personality (much like her Hannah Montana character) and suffering from "dissociative identity disorder" as a result of her immersion in a multi-generational Monarch-like mind-control program.

Note Miley's website. It's peppered with monarch butterfly imagery. For more on Project Monarch, go here for some fairly thorough background on the subject.

As someone who covers the country music scene but is not steeped in the politics of Nashville I have noted Billy Ray Cyrus since the early 1990's. Beyond his atrocious mullet and goofy songs like "Achy Breaky Heart," there was always something about the Kentucky native that struck me a odd. It wasn't until his daughter Miley Cyrus became a star on Hannah Montana that I re-examined Cyrus and his creepy family. As many have noted, Billy Ray rarely smiles and seems to always have a faraway stare. It's really strange, much like his family, as noted by the aforementioned Pseudo-Occult Media website.

"Butterfly Fly Away" is a song Billy Ray and Miley performed together for the 2009 film Hannah Montana: The Movie, was released as a single and seems almost in your face when you consider the allegations that have been made regarding the mind control/MKULTRA issues that have been previously noted by conspiracy researchers.

And get a load of this: pest control company Terminex has a website called Harry's Big Adventure that allows kids to interact with cartoon-like bugs and such. It's an educational program. Incredibly, the butterfly character is called "Miley the Monarch." What do you make of that?

In the meantime, we will be curious to see if Billy Ray Cyrus and his entourage uncover some UFO mysteries. Ironic, considering the mysteries within his own family.
