The tumor of Trumpism is metastasizing after Super Tuesday

OKLAHOMA CITY – Tuesday night proved to be a huge – “YUUUGE!!” in Trump-speak – for the billionaire demagogue and unapologetic swindler of the poor and elderly who promotes reactionary, racist and militaristic ideas and sows hate and fear amongst his growing legions of rabid followers.

Winning seven of 11 states with GOP contests last night, Trump managed to get Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia, besting his nearest competitor, Ted Cruz, who won Texas and our state of Oklahoma. Meanwhile, Marco Rubio squeaked out a tepid victory in Minnesota. Trump currently has 316 delegates, far more than Rubio or Cruz.

And the Republican establishment sweats even more, while politicos look exasperated on the cable news programs as they realize that Trump is running for the position of king, rather than president. The GOP is absolutely apoplectic over Trump's rise and the failures of establishment, robotic "golden boy" Marco Rubio. For the establishment, Trumpism is a "nightmare," as The Washington Post reports. But Trump is really their creation.

Nevertheless, Trump - who is a mixture of legendary insult comic Don Rickles and the Richard Nixon and George Wallace we saw in 1968 and 1972 - is on the move, heading a Republican Party which has devolved into a fascistic movement which represents a combination of racist, misogynistic, militaristic and reactionary policies which would - if Trump were elected - lead to an authoritarian presidency of the "strongman" variety. America's Il Duce, indeed.

Trump is the sort of guy who has utter contempt for the poor (note his feelings on the poor having the gall to play the “beautiful, elegant” game of golf), while using them to gain more power as so many dictators throughout history have done. And as a billionaire real estate mogul, there is no doubt he has exploited the poor and the down-on-their luck workers who have built his gaudy, gilded and corrupt empire with the sweat of their brow.

On the night of the Iowa caucuses, Trump’s son, Donald Trump, Jr., appeared at a caucus site in West Des Moines and urged the caucus-goers to caucus for his father.

“My dad may have a big balance sheet, but he’s a blue collar guy at heart,” Trump, Jr. told the folks at Polk County, Iowa’s Republican Precinct 313. Trump. Jr. stopped short of calling his dad an "Archie Bunker for 2016," however.

A month after Red Dirt Report spoke with Trump, Jr., the presidential candidate’s surrogate and son is allegedly appearing as a guest on “pro-white” radio programs like The Political Cesspool, which regularly features guests promoting white supremacy, Nazism and Fascism.*(Note message at end of story for update).

Trump's campaign, notes The Huffington Post, has allegedly credentialed these white supremacist groups to report from Trump rallies. And don't forget that David Duke has warned fellow racists that not voting for Trump is "treason to your (white) heritage."

Racist groups are rallying around Trump’s candidacy. They even have their own website, The Daily Trump, which blends white supremacist messages and news about Trump on the campaign trail.

And the Trump rallies are leading to violent encounters between Trumpists and peaceful protesters,  members of the press, or activists with #BlackLivesMatter.

In the media, conservative and reactionary voices like Alex Jones, Matt Drudge and the neo-Nazi sewer known as, are going after anyone who dares to come out against Trump and the vexing movement he is leading.

I'll close with this quote from the late Lee Atwater, the ruthless Republican strategist who worked for Reagan and Bush and a master of 80's-era, racist, dog-whistle politics. In 1991, as he was dying of cancer, he told LIFE magazine that he had regrets about his career in cutthroat, right-wing politics - a merciless and sadistic style which has continued to this very day and encapsulates anti-intellectual, dangerous and reactionary Trumpism that is the GOP's Frankenstein's monster.

"The '80s were about acquiring — acquiring wealth, power, prestige. I know. I acquired more wealth, power, and prestige than most. But you can acquire all you want and still feel empty. What power wouldn't I trade for a little more time with my family? What price wouldn't I pay for an evening with friends? It took a deadly illness to put me eye to eye with that truth, but it is a truth that the country, caught up in its ruthless ambitions and moral decay, can learn on my dime. I don't know who will lead us through the '90s, but they must be made to speak to this spiritual vacuum at the heart of American society, this tumor of the soul."

Trump and Trumpism represents the spiritual vacuum at the heart of our society. The soul-sucking tumor of Trumpism is metastasizing, America. Pay heed.

EDITOR'S NOTE:* The Trump campaign has said the following about the allegations Donald Trump Jr. appeared on The Political Cesspool (via “The campaign provided media credentials to everyone that requested access to the event on Saturday in Memphis. There were close to 200 reporters in attendance and we do not personally vet each individual. The campaign had no knowledge of his personal views and strongly condemns them. Donald Trump Jr. was not in attendance and although he served as a surrogate for his father on several radio programs over the past week, to his knowledge and that of the campaign, did not participate in an interview with this individual.”

Meanwhile, the "pro-white" operator of The Political Cesspool, James Edwards, noted his coverage of a Tennessee Trump event here.
