OKLAHOMA CITY – Within a day of one another – and three-to-four days after my “Keep your head low (troubles)” Dust Devil Dreams article was posted, two major issues related to what I synchromystically addressed in the post appeared in the news.

That post, made on March 27, 2019, began thusly:

I’m at home. It’s dark and a light snow is falling. In the house I’m with some other people. I look out the window and I see two jet airplanes in the sky … one is an Irish airline and the other is an American airline.

The Irish plane seems affected by the inclement weather. Or maybe not. It’s hard to say, but it is going down in flames and I see and hear the explosion in the distance. It’s shocking and disturbing.

But what is strange about it all is that after this aviation catastrophe, no one seems to know about it. I ask people, “Did you hear about that plane crash near the airport?” And no one seems to know a thing about it.

It gets to the point, in the dream, where I am questioning whether or not I really witnessed this plane crash. Did I imagine it? What really happened and why am I the only one who seems to have witnessed it? It got to the point where I felt like I was witnessing some mysterious event somehow syncing with the events of September 11, 2001.”

I note that the Irish airline in my dream appeared to be a Ryanair airliner. The sync in the post noted a link to an Irish passenger named Michael “Mick” Ryan who died earlier in March when Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 crashed near Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city, shortly after takeoff. (Recall in Superman: The Movie, where a piece of kryptonite, which crashed near Addis Ababa, is recovered by Lex Luthor, to use against Superman. It was on March 11, 2011, that I had a nightmare ("The Cheshire moon") which combined the horrors of 9/11 with the explosion of Superman's home planet of Krypton - an explosion that sent the kryptonite meteorite to Earth, recovered by Lex).

The sync/link, though, is that the only time a Ryanair flight – Ryanair Flight 4102 - has encountered any damaging incidents was a bird strike near Rome, Italy in the autumn of 2008.

Here’s where it gets synchromystically interesting. On Sunday, March 31, 2019, American Airlines Flight 2163 took off from Boston’s Logan International Airport at 10:08 a.m. with a destination of New York’s LaGuardia Airport. It flew briefly, striking a flock of geese after takeoff, and returned 11 minutes later, to the airport. There were no injuries among the 99 passengers and a crew of four, according to this USA Today story.

A photo of the aircraft, upon its return to Logan International, showed blood and feathers on the windshield of the cockpit. The pilot noted, upon return, that the engines were operational but “there was blood all over the windshield.”

In Britain, of course, a “windshield” is called a “windscreen.” I thought of that distinction on the morning of March 30th, as I was playing The Rolling Stones’ late ’65 LP December’s Children (And Everybody’s) (in the US) after learning that morning that singer Mick Jagger was told by his doctor not to take part in the upcoming No Filter Tour, the Stones were embarking on in April. In fact, I had tickets for my Dad and I to catch the Houston gig later this month. The tour has been postponed until Jagger gets a clean bill of health.

Anyway, I cranked up December’s Children, my favorite of the earlier Stones albums. And the song that I love the most – “Get Off Of My Cloud” – is wedged between a cover of Bobby Troup’s “Route 66” and the Jagger/Richards original “I’m Free,” which would become a minor hit for the Scottish alt-rock band The Soup Dragons when they covered it in 1990.

It’s a fun song, and a successful follow-up to their earlier ’65 megahit “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.” The Stones were pressured to follow “Satisfaction”’s success and “Cloud” is what they came up with. A song Jagger later described as a “stop bugging-me, post-teenage-alienation song.

Stones founder Brian Jones plays lead guitar on “Get Off Of My Cloud.” And electric piano. He would die four years later – July 3, 1969 – under mysterious circumstances (read these book reviews of mine).

This summer is the 50th anniversary of Jones’s death and I have not seen the Stones organization make any mention of that fact. One wonders if Brian is looking down from rock n’ roll heaven and chuckling as his beloved band is sidelined because the arrogant, aging frontman is having to take it easy for a bit.

Recall that I mentioned the attacks of September 11, 2001 in the “Keep your head low” sync post. That was because it felt like the airplane crash scenario in my dream was reflecting the 9/11 scenario.

It was American Airlines Flight 11 that first crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center, striking the structure between the 93rd and 99th floors. Note the “99” passengers and “11” minutes mentioned in the American Airlines flight bird strike story. Like Flight 11, Flight 2163 took off from Boston Logan as well, although with New York as the destination, not Los Angeles as AA 11 was scheduled to go to that dark, doomy day almost 18 years ago.

That first verse of “Cloud” has Jagger singing about “living in an apartment on the 99th  floor of my block / And I sit at home looking out the window imagining the world has stopped …

Again, the 99th floor. It was on that floor where the global professional services company Marsh & McLennan was located when the plane struck the tower. Two hundred and ninety-four Marsh & McLennan employees perished in the attack.

And like that next line says, Jagger stares out, down at the city and imagines the world has stopped, reminding me of the poignant Alan Jackson song “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)” which Jackson penned upon learning of the attacks on New York and the Pentagon. The song would spend five weeks at Number 1 and would earn Jackson a Grammy Award. Years later, Jackson would cover the 1971 Stones song “Wild Horses” for a Muscle Shoals tribute record.

In the final verse of “Get Off Of My Cloud,” Jagger sings: “I was sick and tired, fed up with this and decided to take a drive downtown / It was so very quiet and peaceful, there was nobody, not a soul around
I laid myself out, I was so tired and I started to dream / In the morning the parking tickets were just like flags stuck on my windscreen.

Tickets like flags on a windscreen (windshield). The blood and feathers on the aircraft windshield. The flags are the "flags" of nationalism. Ireland has its border issue. And Trump is making America's Southern border an issue. The trend toward fascistic authoritarianism is rapidly spreading around the world.

Note Jagger/Richards making specifically English references to a man "dressed up like a Union Jack." He asks Jagger if he has a "detergent pack," or laundry soap to clean up a mess. And what a mess it is!

Some say that New York, enveloped in a deadly cloud of fine debris, dust and human remains was quiet and almost peaceful, despite the emergency sirens and sheer fear and terror sowed upon its citizens and many, many more beyond. America was tired. America began to dream ... but that dream quickly became an absolute nightmare that seems to be on a Groundhog Day-esque repeat.

The other newsworthy item that caught my eye this past weekend was an opinion piece in The New York Times titled “The Irish Border is a Scar: Could Brexit reignite the Troubles in Northern Ireland?” by writer Patrick Radden Keefe.

Needless to say, I was stunned to see the “Troubles” mentioned so prominently just days after I contemplated my dream and a possible sync/link to Ireland’s troubles that concluded two decades ago but may be in trouble of returning, if Brexit actually happens and the United Kingdom leaves and the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland has to be made clear once again.

Some books on Ireland that I stumbled upon a few days back when interpreting my Dust Devil Dream. (Andrew W. Griffin / Red Dirt Report)

That’s because, as Keefe, writes, the new “equilibrium” between Northern Ireland and Ireland was facilitated by the European Union. Yes, he writes, peace has endured between Catholics and Protestants, but it is a brittle peace and as Keefe writes: “Brexit has foundered, in no so small measure, on the question of how to cope with the Irish border.” Continuing, Keefe also notes that when asking if the violence will return, he writes that a car bomb was already detonated by a dissident group in the city of Derry, indicating that the “brittle peace” between the two sides is just that.

All in all, it appears that my dream info was predicting important events that would be discussed and/or happened just a few days later. Should we be watching the Brexit talks closely, with specific emphasis on Northern Ireland? It would appear so. And these airplanes and bird strikes ... what of that? Like the scenario I discussed in the series The Widow, a downed airliner was crashed not due to mechanical failure - as people were initially told - but because a bomb was on board. If we do find out the truth, it's often too late to do very much about it. And so it goes.

Ten months ago today I posted a Dust Devil Dreams article titled “Cake on fire! (Let it bleed)(the Rolling Stones sync references are legion here at Dust Devil Dreams)

I address Christian fortune tellers proudly predicting years earlier that Trump would be president.

As I wrote on June 1, 2018:

"But some did not need voices foretelling the future to know what was coming down the pike in the post-9/11 dystopia we are finding ourselves in.

My office collection of Hunter S. Thompson books. (Andrew W. Griffin / Red Dirt Report)

As noted in Hunter S. Thompson’s 2003 collection Kingdom of Fear: Loathsome Secrets of a Star-Crossed Child in the Final Days of the American Century, the good Doctor of Journalism wrote: “The real power in America is held by a fast-emerging new Oligarchy of pimps and preachers who see no need for Democracy or fairness or even trees, except maybe the ones in their own yards, and they don't mind admitting it. They worship money and power and death. Their ideal solution to all the nation's problems would be another 100 Year War.”

And Thompson was absolutely right. We are in the last days of the tattered American dream. For many, not only here, but around the world, it translates as “nightmare.”

Thompson was writing in the era of Dubya and the horrors of 9/11 and the Iraq War. But who thought 2018 would be worse than it was 15 years ago? Really?"

As a side note, I was watching the Aeon Byte livestream with Miguel Connor, Jasun Horsley, Vance, and Christopher Knowles, where they discussed today (March 31, 1999) being the 20th anniversary of the release of the film The Matrix, linked at Knowles' website The Secret Sun.

I was never a big fan of The Matrix myself, but I get why so many people are. After all, Neo's passport expired on 9/11/01. Sync/wink times a thousand! That said, Knowles tells the group that he thought the film's "reputation is in far disproportionate measure to the film itself. And then I think whatever value the original film had was really sabotaged by those terrible sequels."

Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves is returning to the big screen in 2020, reprising his role as “Ted Logan” in the third installment of the Bill & Ted franchise … this one, Bill & Ted Face the Music.

In the meantime, the rest of the world is, essentially, about to face the music on many fronts. Hang on!

UPDATE (1:57 p.m. April 1, 2019): Minutes after posting this article, I noted a story at the top of the Drudge Report - an exclusive - reporting that Mick Jagger was taking a break from touring because he is facing heart valve replacement surgery.

It is usually successful and Jagger is said to be in great health. Oddly, but cleverly, Drudge headlined the link to the story "JAGGER HEART OF STONE" via The (UK) Daily Mail. That caught my attention since on Jan. 20, 2017 I wrote a piece about President Trump's inaugural concert, the night before, that utilized the Rolling Stones' "Heart of Stone" as the lead song. I even wrote about it at the time, here. Further confirmation syncing the Stones and world affairs.
