Keys (King of pain)

OKLAHOMA CITY – Walking to the counter at a furniture shop, I stopped in my tracks and looked to the wall in front of me. There was a framed picture of the World Trade Center’s Twin Towers, with the Statue of Liberty right in front of them, in all their pre-9/11 glory.

At the very moment my eyes fell upon this synchronous image, over the store sound system the classic Police song “King of Pain,” from their 1983 album Synchronicity began to play. I couldn’t believe it! (The Police come up a lot in my sync work - and for good reason)

The chorus: “I have stood here before inside the pouring rain / With the world turning circles / running 'round my brain. / I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign / But it's my destiny to be the king of pain.”

It’s a beautiful song.  A haunting song. It reminds me of a place along the shore of Lake Michigan where I spent my childhood. It’s where I first heard that song 33 summers ago.

It was then (this happened at approximately 1:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016) that I began to think of this as a bad omen. That more pain was on its way.

The Police singer/songwriter Sting had written “King of Pain” and all its symbolic imagery involving the soul (“There’s a little black spot on the sun today – that’s my soul up there”) as an analogy for the pain he was experiencing following his break-up with his wife at that time.

But it’s also a song open to interpretation, a lot like the other excellent Synchronicity single “Wrapped Around Your Finger,” where Sting sings of being “caught between the Scylla and Charybdis.” Again, Sting was in a bit of a spot and in a bad relationship and used it as a metaphor.  I said “Scylla and Charybdis” out loud as “King of Pain” played and I gazed at the two towers or pillars, like those of Boaz and Jachin in front of Solomon’s Temple in Jerusalem.

Sting was very much into the work of synchronicity masters Carl Jung and Arthur Koestler. Note this Dust Devil Dreams piece from February 2014 - "Oh mi corazon" - a piece which notes a dream involving events in 2037, involving drones and more.

As I wrote at the time: "A companion of mine, who looks not unlike Benicio del Toro in his role of revolutionary Che Guevara in Steven Soderbergh’s 2008 biopic Che, has had enough. And while I get “tagged” with a “bad DNA report” “Che” runs through a run-down hotel, not unlike the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The semi-boomerang-shaped “drone” is chasing Che down the hall and he manages to get into the room at the end of the hall and slam the door shut before the drone tags him.

The drone slams into the door and bounces up and strikes the ceiling, causing the alien device to explode into a white foam."

Speaking of "Che," it is Ernesto "Che" Guevara's visage which looks over Obama's left shoulder during his visit to Cuba.

But back to Scylla and Charybdis ... That line is, of course, an idiom in Greek mythology, derived from Homer, regarding the sea monsters and whirlpool between Italy and Sicily. Odysseus had to pass between the two “evils” and chose the sea monster over the whirlpool – resulting in the deaths of some of his men but avoiding the utter destruction of his ship that would have befallen it had he chosen the whirlpool.

Thinking upon this, I also noted the date – March 19th – and how it was on this day 13 years earlier (U.S. Central Standard Time) that the illegal invasion of Iraq began, something the Bush administration had planned since at least the 9/11 attacks, if not before.

Dwelling on this I had a feeling that something was going to happen – and soon. And with my knowledge of the Skull & Bones society (of which former presidents Bush and current Secretary of State John Kerry were members), I had a bad feeling about March 22nd, or “3/22.” It is “322” which is the key number for Bonesmen.

Curiously, over the weekend my family insisted we watch Back to the Future again. A film rife with 9/11 symbolism - 16 years before the actual event, as we have noted here time and again and amazingly featured in Joe Alexander's Back to the Future Predicts 9/11.

At the very beginning of the YouTube video, Alexander narrates, saying, "In the 1985 classic Back to the Future, at a scene called the Twin Pines Mall, you will bear witness to a sudden, surprise terrorist attack, perpetrated by a group of Muslim terrorists."

I noted the Volkswagen Microbus the two Libyan/Muslim terrorists are driving. Earlier in the day I had seen two old VW Microbuses on a trailer on I-35 in Moore, Oklahoma. It made me think of the microbus in the classic film and relate it to terrorism as featured in the film. The Alexander YouTube video notes that BTTF was essentially warning - via synchronicity - of a future terrorist attack on America where Islamic extremists were to blame.

While in Corpus Christi, Texas last week, I visited the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History. A wonderful museum and with a lot of interesting exhibits and information. At one point I noted the wall exhibit regarding King Louis XIV of France and how he was noted as “The Sun King.” His emblem of the sun was used on weapons brought to what is now Texas aboard the ill-fated French ship La Belle, which sank in the mid-1680’s.

As the museum information noted: “Three boxes of muskets were excavated from La Belle. Several still had a small brass sun emblem, representing Louis XIV, the Sun King, inlaid in the side plate on the gunstock.”

This was interesting in that around this time I had listened to “Gnik Nus,” the backwards version of The Beatles’ Abbey Road medley track “Sun King” as featured on the Beatles’ 2006 compilation Love. I noted this in my May 2015 Dust Devil Dreams post “Sleepwalk (Gnik nus).” There are 9/11 overtones in this particular piece, dear reader. Again, with the "Sun King."

At the moment, the eyes of the world are on Brussels, Belgium, where the latest ISIS-led terror attack has taken place. And we sensed it was coming after Belgian-born French citizen Salah Abdeslam was arrested, charged with “terrorist murder” in the 11/13/15 Paris attacks which killed 130 people. Media accounts called Abdeslam “a key suspect” in the Paris terrorist attack case and he had said “Brussels was set to be the next target.” This all came out over the weekend, as I'm reading B. Traven's The Death Ship, about a merchant seaman left behind by his ship, the Tuscaloosa, in Antwerp, Belgium. It is in Belgium (and later elsewhere) where the seaman, Gerry Gales, discovers that without his papers, he is nobody. It was Traven's criticism of post-World War I nationalism and bureaucratic authority. Belgium had been on my mind.

And our friend Loren Coleman at Twilight Language asks the question: Was the Brussels attack predicted

The clues were seemingly all around me. The word "key" or "keys" kept coming up. There was a conversation i had about Key West, Florida. And a family member insisted on watching the 1948 film Key Largo, directed by John Huston and starring Humphrey Bogart. In the film, Bogie tells a gangster he wanted to rid the world of corrupt scum like him. But then saying disgustedly that losing one's life over a gangster (Johnny Rocco, played by Edward G. Robinson) wasn't worth it.

I see an analogy here somewhere ...

And what is interesting is that as all this is playing out on the screen, where traversing between the Florida Keys (sync 12 Monkeys) and Cuba is playing out, in reality, President Obama himself is heading to Cuba, the first time a sitting U.S. president had done this in nine decades, something Red Dirt Report has noted, is being applauded by pro-diplomacy Americans, including right here in Oklahoma City.
