Bring to heel

OKLAHOMA CITY – While in Hot Springs, Arkansas recently, I visited the rather unsettling Josephine Tussaud Wax Museum.

A bit of a “dated” looking tourist stop, you do see many historical figures, re-created in wax. Everyone from Pope John Paul II to Joseph Stalin. Jesus and the apostles at the Last Supper appeared shockingly Aryan.

And right before you see a waxy Barack Obama, you come up to wax figures of Bill & Hillary Clinton. This makes sense of course in many ways. Bill lived in Hot Springs in his early years and was governor of Arkansas for a time, prior to his becoming president. Yes, being in that once-notoriously corrupt city makes sense.

And looking at the glazed, waxen, toothy, smiling face of Hillary Clinton was a bit eerie.

So, yesterday, when I heard that Hillary deftly dodged a shoe thrown in her direction at a Las Vegas metal-recycling conference, I didn’t pay too much attention to it – not at first anyway. Hillary, to me, is not unlike the wax figure I saw emptily smiling at passing tourists.

It was today, following a dream involving my efforts to develop a device to kill plague-carrying mosquitoes. Perhaps it has something to do with the coming “micro-drone revolution” where mosquito drones cold, as Alan Lovejoy wrote in 2012: “could land on you and then use its needle to take a DNA sample with the pain of a mosquito bite. Or it could inject a micro RFID tracking device under your skin.” Certainly that would make the affected/infected person obey your every command, right?

When Che Guevara and the other guerrillas in the rugged Bolivian countryside were trying to rouse the revolutionary instincts of the peasantry, they were plagued with malaria-carrying mosquitos and the misery that comes with being attacked by insects day and night.

So, what happened in Las Vegas the other day? Why was Hillary Clinton targeted? What was the political statement being made, if any? The headline on the Drudge Report is "Hill Gets Heel," referencing the heel of the woman's shoe. And this morning, on my way to work, The Byrds' were singing "Turn! Turn! Turn!" and talking about "a time to heal." Or could it be that it is time to "bring someone to heel," to essentially force someone to obey you?

From a report in today’s UK Daily Mail: “Ilene Rosen, the wife of a conventioneer from Denver who was seated in the second row, said she saw an orange object fly toward the stage from a side aisle and papers fluttering in the air. Rosen said the woman had walked down the aisle to within six rows of the front of the seating area, threw the items, turned around, put her hands up in the air and walked toward the back of the room. Security officers quickly caught up with her.”

The article describes a “middle-aged blonde woman” who was seated on a sofa outside the convention hall. She refused to give her name or the purpose of her protest.

Here’s the interesting part: “An attendee later handed a reporter a piece of paper that was apparently thrown by the woman. It appeared to be a copy of a Department of Defense document labeled confidential and dated August 1967. It referred to an operation ‘Cynthia’ in Bolivia.”

What would Hillary Clinton have to do with a 47-year-old military operation that involved seeking and destroying Cuban insurgents in Bolivia seeking to foment revolution on the South American continent? Could it have something to do with Che Guevara’s alleged “lover” and fellow revolutionary Tamara “Tania” Bunke Bider, an Argentine-born, East German communist revolutionary and spy? Is the Vegas protester insinuating that Hillary Rodham Clinton is, like "Tania the Guerrilla," a latter-day “Mata Hari”? Ready to take down the country via a revolution of some kind?

After all, in one of his last acts as president, Bill Clinton pardoned one-time revolutionary and kidnapped media heiress Patty Hearst in 1974 by the revolutionary Symbionese Liberation Army. After being sexually abused and brainwashed by the SLA, Hearst was given the nom de guerre “Tania” after Che Guevara’s lover and fighter “Tania the Guerilla.” She would take part in bank robberies and violence and be ultimately captured in 1975. It is said she was suffering from "Stockholm Syndrome."

Oh, and who did Bill Clinton not pardon? Old Little Rock friend Webb Hubbell. He's been coming up a lot lately ...

Operation Cynthia,” the Bolivian government’s anti-guerilla operation in 1967, named after the Bolivian commanding officer’s daughter , was an effort to flush out the communist guerillas – led by revolutionary leader Ernesto “Che” Guevara – who were trying to make the South American nation “the strategic center of continental revolution.”

Cynthia was actually one of two operations by the Bolivian army. The second was called “Operation Parabano.” At the time, President Rene Barrientos was concerned that his term would end prematurely – and violently, as Salvador Allende’s would six years later in Chile.

Che’s efforts in Bolivia had some successes, but also many hardships and failures. But throughout 1967, Che’s communist revolutionary band were tough to stop and the ultimately 53 American military “advisors,” along with guns and supplies were sent to Bolivia in order to avoid, as a La Paz newspaper put it “a new Vietnam.”

In fact, Che had hope to create “two, three, many Vietnams” in hopes of challenging American imperialism.

So, is the mysterious blonde woman in Las Vegas (recall my last DDD piece “I shout out for shelter” on April 7th, where I describe a city street in what appears to be Las Vegas. A dust devil actually appears before me … and here we have this strange “shoe throwing” and “document flinging” event in Las Vegas involving the woman who is likely to be our next president …

Two months ago, in a Dust Devil Dreams piece headlined “Oh mi corazon” (oh my heart), I wrote the following – with lots of “Che” imagery:

“I should mention that last night I had the most interesting dream. It took place from present day to the year 2037 (exactly 23 years from now and 100 years after Arthur Koestler’s life-altering arrest during the Spanish Civil War – funny, in that The Clash’s “Spanish Bombs” has been playing a lot on my Spotify …).

During this 23-year time period my family and I (and other human beings) are being tracked and monitored by small, smooth, white-colored alien-operated “drones.” They act as “couriers” that “tag” humans with information about the status of their DNA. Due to contamination from the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster of 2011, the DNA of many human beings on Earth has been altered and this has caused concern among the alien overlords, not unlike those in Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End.

Humans do not see the aliens. We only see their drone couriers. This monitoring – in my dream – proceeds to continue with my family and I over the 23 years – up until 2037. This particular year proves crucial because we begin to fight back.

A companion of mine, who looks not unlike Benicio del Toro in his role of revolutionary Che Guevara in Steven Soderbergh’s 2008 biopic Che, has had enough. And while I get “tagged” with a “bad DNA report” “Che” runs through a run-down hotel, not unlike the Overlook Hotel in Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining. The semi-boomerang-shaped “drone” is chasing Che down the hall and he manages to get into the room at the end of the hall and slam the door shut before the drone tags him.

The drone slams into the door and bounces up and strikes the ceiling, causing the alien device to explode into a white foam.

When I awoke, I had the strangest sensation that this Valentine’s Day dream was somehow significant. The year 2037 struck me because, as I noted, it was 23 years in the future and the year 23 – that “23 enigma” that William S. Burroughs, Robert Anton Wilson and others have written about is part of the synchronicity phenomenon that I write about here at Dust Devil Dreams.”

--END –

In a July 28, 1967 TIME magazine article on “Operation Cynthia,” the reporter talks about the lack of success in the operation in capturing Che Guevara and other key communist revolutionaries. However, one man is captured – “a French leftist intellectual named Jules Regis Debray. A close Castro friend, Debray was picked up walking out of an abandoned guerrilla camp three months ago. Since then, he has told half-a-dozen conflicting stories, some of them implicating Cuba’s long-absent revolutionist, Che Guevara, in the Bolivian operation. Last week’s version was that Che organized the guerrilla uprising, then left for parts unknown. The Bolivian government’s plan to try Debray has raised a storm of protest in France.”

As for Che, he was captured and executed in 1967, not long after the implementation of “Operation Cynthia.” He became a martyr, naturally and is revered around the world to this day.

Debray, meanwhile, would be sentenced to 30 years in prison by the Bolivian court, but would be released early, in 1970, following protests from everyone from Jean-Paul Sartre and Pope Paul VI. He would seek refuge in Chile and conduct many interviews with Salvador Allende and release the book The Chilean Revolution in 1972. The following year, after Chile’s 9/11 and the death of Allende, Debray would return to France. Of course the U.S. was behind Allende's toppling and death and inserted the brutal Pinochet regime. We still play those games today, as seen in Venezuela, Ukraine and elsewhere.

Interestingly, it was Debray, a Marxist-Guevarist who formulated the theory of “foco,” or “foquismo,” a revolution by way of guerrilla warfare. Debray’s ideas came from his research on the experience Che had during the 1959 Cuban revolution. Che would embrace Debray’s theories on rural guerrilla insurgencies.

Debray’s ideas were also embraced by the black-liberation focused SLA, whose symbol was a seven-headed cobra. One wonders if Hillary and Patty Hearst ever met after Bill pardoned her. Two old New Leftists having tea, perhaps?

Meanwhile, little is being released on the blonde protester. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that the Secret Service said the protester was not part of the convention and had rushed past security to get in the room where Clinton was speaking. Here is a link to a video of the shoe being thrown and commentary from a YouTube subscriber offering his analysis.

Perhaps we will learn more about this protester in coming hours and days.

UPDATE: We have since learned that the shoe-lobbing, Hill-hater was 36-year-old Alison Ernst of Phoenix, Arizona. Possibly mentally ill or under mind control, she has a weird obsession with alleged-Aurora theater shooter James Holmes.
