NORMAN, Okla. – The Australian rock band, the Elliotts, are on a walkabout in the United States, and are stopping off in Norman at 6 p.m. April 2 at the Red Brick Bar, 311 E Main.

“We came over to check out the west [Texas] and thought as long as we were here, we would look around a bit,” said lead vocalist Robbie Elliott.

Although some members of the band have been here before, this is the first American tour for the band, coming on the heels of a European tour.

Elliott said they were unsure if they would even make it on red, white, and blue stages through the travel bans imposed in the U.S., but the band made it through customs without incident, unlike some other bands Elliott knows.

The band is hitting 25 venues of all sizes from coast to coast. Since they booked in both Kansas City and Dallas, they said they were playing “the Oklahoma sandwich.”

The Elliotts play a melodic crossover of rock and pop. Very popular in their home country, the band said they have received a warm welcome in the United States. The song that resounds most with American audiences seems to be, “Instagram,” which explores the social media craze.

“People here jump on board and tell us, ‘you did so good.’   We are looking forward to it [playing in Norman].”

The Red Brick Bar is known for hosting an eclectic mix of weekly live music in downtown Norman, and is a regular venue at the Norman Music Festival. Check out

“We are pretty friendly. If anyone wants to come on down and say ‘Gday’, we will give you a guitar pick or buy you a beer or something,” Elliott said.
