OKLAHOMA CITY - We've all experienced the tragically hip restaurant that tries too hard and fails miserably. This is not the case at West.

Rick and David Haynes along with Executive Chef Eric Smith opened West in 2009. West has a very attentive, engaging and friendly staff with a lively atmosphere and modern metropolitan décor.

Located on Western Avenue near Nichols Hills, Executive Chef Eric Smith offers modern twists on American classics, like the delicious tomato basil with grilled cheese croutons and a seasonal menu.

On Saturday night, the happening bar is at the heart of the West floor plan. There are plenty of flat screens to watch the Thunder with booths in the bar area for an excellent view. A large Scotch selection awaits you as well as a good variety of wines. They offer mixed drinks, like the Gold Digger champagne cocktail. For lighter options, checkout the ‘Skinnies’, cocktails all under 130 calories.

It can get a little noisy in the main dining room if the bar is really crowded. The lack of a waiting area ensures the bar stays busy. If you are on a date night ask for a table in the second dining room which is quieter.

Make sure to order the zuccha chips that are lightly breaded zucchini slices with sea salt served with the Oklahoman favorite ranch dressing. The puree trio is sure to delight hummus lovers with traditional, red pepper and olive varieties.

The new red pepper soup is foamy and light with a roasted red pepper flavor that lingers on the palate. West also offers a seasonal menu and a large variety of hearty salads.

Vegetarians and meat lovers will all find something delicious. The Filet Your Way, with certified angus beef takes filets to a new level with options of steak and enchiladas, blue cheese and red wine, and the 1977 with burgundy braised mushrooms. The Brussels sprout salad and vegan nachos are delicious meat free dishes will full flavor.

The Banana Cake for Two dessert is a must for anyone who loves bananas and peanut butter, plus some chocolate and gelato.

Following dinner, you will be happily surprised by cotton candy instead of the usual after dinner mint. When the weather is nice enjoy the cozy West patio with a brandy or cigar from the cigar menu.

Saturday and Sunday Brunch from 10 am to 4 pm features a Frittata Station menu along with traditional brunch fare.

West is located at 6714 N. Western Avenue in Oklahoma City. They serve lunch and dinner Monday through Friday and brunch on Saturday and Sunday until 4 pm.

Happy hour is every day from 3 to 6 with half priced appetizers. For more information checkout
