OKLAHOMA CITY – Sauced on Paseo, a full-service coffee bar and cafe in Oklahoma City’s Paseo District, is one of those places that if you pop in once, you’re bound to be chomping at the bit, so to speak, to get back and try something else.

Such was the recent experience by three Red Dirt Report staff – me, Liz Burleson and Kai Tancredi.

This particular day we only had time for a quick lunch so we drove over to the Paseo and walked in. For lunch it was pretty empty, but the service we received was fantastic. And the pizza we ordered – Liz and I shared the Greek-style “Spartacus” vegetarian pizza and Kai got a slice of the barbecue pizza – was delicious.

Well, when I say “delicious,” it was very, very good. The artichokes, olives, and peppers were plentiful and the tomato and cheese was evenly placed on the moderately-thin crust. What was lacking in my Sauced pizza, ironically enough, was tomato sauce.

But I was later told by the wait staff that you can request more tomato sauce, if you wish. Good to know.

Oh, and I should mention that the three of us noshed on triangular slices of pita bread which were completed by the restaurant’s tasty hummus. Definitely get it as an appetizer.

Kai, meanwhile, enjoyed her barbecued chicken pizza slice, and I had two slices of the 16-inch pizza, with plenty left over between Liz and I. While she washed her meal down with a Sprite, Liz and I preferred Coca-Cola. I should also add that there were plenty of other beverage options, including non-alcoholic drinks, sodas, wine and even bottled beer and beer on tap.

When I asked Liz what she thought about Sauced and her lunch, she said: “It had a really good casual and welcoming atmosphere. They also had really good staff, helpful and pleasant.”

I would agree, noting the bohemian atmosphere, the friendly vibes and copious food options. Oh, and there's a patio, too! A place to be seen.

Continuing, Liz said:

“In general, everything was pretty good. It was kind of one of those things that I liked the pizza enough to where I’d like to try other flavors. The Spartacus was very Greek. Next time I’d like to try something more traditional.”

Overall, the consensus was a positive one. Will we all return to Sauced sometime soon? You bet!
