Suspected tornado hits Tulsa; injuries, damage reported

TULSA, Okla. – A suspected tornado struck Tulsa early Sunday morning, resulting in over two dozen injuries according to local media reports and information gathered by Red Dirt Report’s Spencer Cox.

The worst damage appeared to be in mid-Tulsa, near East 41st Street and Interstate 44. The Remington Tower, featured in our main photo appeared to suffer severe damage to the exterior of the building, which is located at 5810 E. Skelly Drive.

The Darr Equipment company office at 4251 S. 76th E. Ave. also was damaged, as Cox discovered.

The Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant, along with a T.G.I. Friday’s and Panera Bread, also restaurants, off of East 41st St. were damaged as well.

Details about the size of the tornado has yet to be determined and while there were no casualties, nearly 30 patients came into the emergency room at St. Francis Hospital with “minor storm related injuries,” according to Tulsa’s Fox 23 News.

Meanwhile, City of Tulsa officials are working to assess damage throughout the affected area.

UPDATE: (8:02 p.m.): It was confirmed today that it was an EF2 tornado that struck central Tulsa earlier this morning. We will have more on this story on Monday.
