OKLAHOMA CITY- Indivisible Oklahoma hosted a rally at the Oklahoma State Capitol to denounce the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia.

"Oklahoma Standing in Solidarity with Charlottesville,”  garnered 500-600 people at the south steps of the Capitol. People had prepared placards, speeches, and Peggy Johnson came to sing.

A moment of silence was held for those who lost their lives during the demonstration in Virginia, which included counter protester Heather Heyer, and two police officers that were killed when their helicopter crashed while monitoring the events from the air. Several people, representing Indivisible Oklahoma, Black Lives Matter, Oklahoma Progressive Network, The Women's March, and others, spoke at the rally.

A candle lit vigil was held and Ms. Johnson closed the evening’s event with an a cappella song, “I Have Stood On This Mountain."
