OKLAHOMA CITY – Adam Soltani, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told Red Dirt Report on Tuesday that his local chapter was made aware that “anti-Muslim rallies” have been scheduled to take place in Oklahoma City this coming Saturday.

The information comes via a Facebook page called “Global Rally for Humanity Oklahoma,” sceheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday at the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City at 3815 St. Clair Avenue.

The unknown creator of the page writes: “The is a Global Rally For Humanity. Humanity is attacked daily by radical Islam. Protests will be held in every country at every Mosque.”

“This is a coordinated thing around the country,” CAIR-OK's Soltani told Red Dirt Report. He added that some posters online have suggested that protesters embrace their Second Amendment rights and come to the anti-Muslim protest armed.

“Why do you have to show up with a guns to a religious event where children and families are present?” Soltani asked.

In a post at the CAIR Oklahoma Facebook page, Soltani wrote that they have met with local law enforcement to make sure that “all potential threats have been diligently investigated.” Soltani said that the Oklahoma City Police Department is “monitoring the groups that have announced their intentions to protest  …”

According to the Phoenix New Times, this global rally against Islam is being coordinated by Arizona-based Islamophobe Jon Ritzheimer, who calls Islam a “barbaric cult,” and has rallies planned in Western Europe, Russia, China, India, Canada, Australia and other nations.

In the CAIR Oklahoma Facebook post, Soltani offers some important tips to people who may visit a local mosque during the scheduled protest time:

§  There will be law enforcement present to monitor any threats or other negative behavior.

§  Do not engage with protestors. This includes speaking to them, arguing, or approaching them where they stand. It's best to simply ignore them and go about your business.

§  If you see anything that makes you feel threatened, call 911 immediately!

§  Contact your Mosque leadership and CAIR Oklahoma so that we can ensure that any protests are handled in an appropriate manner.
