OKLAHOMA CITY – Next Tuesday, basketball fans the
world over will be focusing on Oklahoma City. News9.com is saying that “big
changes are coming to downtown ahead of Tuesday’s game one.”
“Downtown is about to look better than it ever had
before. In five days, residents can expect to see more landscaping, additional
lighting, cleaned up construction zones and lots of Thunder blue.”
Covering a ribbon-cutting of a new Boeing Company
facility in southeastern Oklahoma City yesterday for The Norman Transcript, both Gov. Mary Fallin and Oklahoma
City Mayor Mick Cornett were in attendance and spoke excitedly of the Thunder
victory and the positive attention it would be bringing the city and state.
“It’s been an electrifying and incredible week,”
Fallin said, noting the success of the OU women’s softball team and, of course,
the Thunder’s victory over the San Antonio Spurs and winning the Western
Conference finals this week. And Mayor Cornett began his talk by noting he had
had little sleep the night before due to all the calls he had been receiving
and also because he would wake up every two hours and “pinch myself.”
We’re with you, Mr. Mayor. We’re still pinching
ourselves as well.
Speaking of pinching, we were stunned to learn today
that even though Ron Paul is still running for president, his son, U.S. Sen.
Rand Paul (R-Ky.), endorsed the Republican nominee Mitt Romney, as reported in The Washington Post.
This was revealed on the Fox News Channel program Hannity last night, with the son saying “I
am happy to announce I am supporting Governor Romney.” He did say he still
supported his father but realized he wouldn’t get the delegates he needed.
This comes after Matt Lewis’s Daily Caller column yesterday where he said “it wouldn’t be absurd to
think a potential Romney-Paul deal could be in the works” – and that’s Rand
Paul, not Ron Paul. Lewis also said that compared to his father, Rand Paul is “everything
you like about Ron Paul, without the crazy.”
The Ron Paul-supporting alternative media –
primarily the Alex Jones Show – is upset
about Rand Paul’s Romney endorsement and that the countless Ron Paul supporters
out there “feel betrayed.”
Jones warned the Paul camp that he and other “we’re
not going to forget” if Rand Paul ends up defending Romney “when he’s done
wrong” sometime down the road.
It’s a contentious issue. Meanwhile, President Obama,
he of the blood-drenched “kill list,” was on the defense during a White House
news conference where he attacked Republicans over the state of the economy and
… with lots of “uuhhhsss” … feigned shock about being asked about the leaks of
classified information. He said he has “zero tolerance” for it. Right.
And on the weirder side of life, our friend Loren Coleman, at Twilight Language, notes the new Ridley Scott film Prometheus, tying it to the utterly shocking trend of cannibalism and "zombie attacks" in recent weeks. Here it is, headlined "Prometheus, cannibals and the Fayette factor." Wild stuff!
